UK dog brush & comb fit register
Nine exact product, variant and bundle rows, with the published dimensions, coat or job role, source date and evidence limit kept together. Use the cautious in-browser filter or download the source register for fact-checking and reuse.
“A doodle brush” is not one specification. The current rows include 12mm and 27mm slicker-pin families, three different published head jobs, a poodle-cross slicker, a dual-density comb, a buying bundle, a pin-and-bristle finishing format and a specialist undercoat edge. A brand or breed label alone does not show which one fits the coat and body area in front of the owner.
What the nine-row snapshot shows
- Four Chris Christensen variants publish pin length: Mark III Medium is 12mm; Baby G, Big G Medium and Big G Large are 27mm.
- Big G head size changes the documented job: Baby for hard-to-reach areas, Medium for legs and columns and Large for the body.
- Five rows do not publish pin or tooth length. The missing value remains “not published”; it is not estimated from photographs or copied from a different model.
- Mikki 6376404 is a bundle row, not a ninth distinct tool. It contains the same 6376402 slicker and 6376401 comb that also appear separately.
- FURminator M Long Hair is a specialist row: it appears only for a known shedding undercoat and loose-undercoat job, never for an unknown or non-shedding coat.
Filter by coat, job and current condition
This filter stores and sends no dog details. It only matches your three selections to tags in the published register; it does not diagnose a coat, assess a mat or rank performance.

The table remains server-rendered and readable without the filter. “Published job” is the named source's role, not a DPR test result. Follow the exact source when a model, dimension or instruction affects a purchase.
| Exact row and source | Published specification | Published coat / job | Precondition and stop boundary | Evidence status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chris Christensen Baby G Long-pin slicker brush Product source | 27mm stainless-steel pins; the maker places Big G in its long-coat family. Head 2⅜ × 2⅜in; overall length 7⅜in. | Long, dense, curly or cottony coats. Hard-to-reach areas. | Healthy, clear coat or only a light tangle; choose a head that can be controlled without pressing pins into the skin. Stop / limit: A compact head does not prove small-dog fit. Do not treat the maker's dematting wording as permission to brush through an existing mat. | manufacturer specification Comfort, detangling speed, pin-tip finish, durability and safe mat removal were not independently established or tested by Dog Product Reviews. Checked |
| Chris Christensen Big G Medium Long-pin slicker brush Product source | 27mm stainless-steel pins; the maker places Big G in its long-coat family. Head 2⅜ × 3¾in; overall length 7⅜in. | Long, dense, curly or cottony coats. Legs, columns and poms. | Healthy, clear coat or only a light tangle; choose the head by the area and the handler's control. Stop / limit: The Medium label does not prove full-body or small-dog fit. Do not force the pins through a catch or mat. | manufacturer specification Comfort, speed, comparative coat removal, durability and fit for every long coat were not independently established or tested by Dog Product Reviews. Checked |
| Chris Christensen Big G Large Long-pin slicker brush Product source | 27mm stainless-steel pins; the maker places Big G in its long-coat family. Head 3¾ × 3¾in; overall length 8in. | Long, dense, curly or cottony coats. Body or torso. | Healthy, clear coat or only a light tangle; the large head must remain controllable across the body. Stop / limit: The large head may be awkward around legs and smaller areas. It is not evidence of comfort, speed or safe mat removal. | manufacturer specification Comfort, speed, comparative coat removal, durability and fit for every long coat were not independently established or tested by Dog Product Reviews. Checked |
| Chris Christensen Mark III Medium Short-pin slicker brush Product source | 12mm pins; the maker places Mark slickers in its short-coat family. Head 5in; body length 7in. | Short coat. Medium-size head; no more specific body-area role is published for Mark III. | Healthy, clear short coat or a closely clipped longer coat, with light pressure and a controllable head. Stop / limit: The 12mm pins are a poor documented match for a long, dense coat and are not a universal doodle recommendation. | manufacturer specification Comfort, comparative finishing, coat removal, durability and fit for every short coat were not independently established or tested by Dog Product Reviews. Checked |
| Mikki Doodles Slicker 6376402 Curved pin-hook slicker brush Product source | Stainless-steel pin hooks; pin length is not published. 15.3 × 5.6 × 10.5cm H×W×D; 87g. | Wool or doodle coat. Section-by-section body work; the maker also describes shaping heads, toplines and legs. | Healthy poodle-cross-type coat without an existing mat; work in controlled sections rather than repeatedly brushing one place. Stop / limit: The maker warns that over-grooming one area can cause skin sensitivity. Its five-minute schedule is manufacturer guidance, not a universal finding. | manufacturer specification Pin length, independent comfort, comparative coat removal, safe mat removal and a universal session duration are not established by the published specification. Checked |
| Mikki Doodles Comb 6376401 Dual-density tapered stainless-steel comb Product source | 26 coarse and 37 fine tapered teeth; tooth length is not published. 19 × 1 × 4cm H×W×D; 62.5g. | Poodle-cross coat. Section-by-section check through lower coat layers across the body. | Use as gentle feedback after brushing a healthy coat; the comb should not be forced through a catch. Stop / limit: A catch is a stop signal, not permission to pull harder or attempt home mat removal. | manufacturer specification Tooth length, independent snagging, comfort and ability to clear a mat are not established by the published specification. Checked |
| Mikki Doodles Grooming Kit 6376404 Slicker-and-comb buying bundle Product source | Includes Doodles Slicker 6376402 and Doodles Comb 6376401; slicker pin-hook and comb tooth lengths are not published; comb has 26 coarse and 37 fine teeth. Comb 19 × 1 × 4cm; slicker 15.3 × 5.6 × 10.5cm; combined 149.5g. | Poodle crosses including Cockapoos, Labradoodles, Cavapoos and Goldendoodles. Slicker for section work, including body and smaller areas; comb for the lower-layer check. | Healthy poodle-cross-type coat without an existing mat; use each component only for its published job. Stop / limit: This is a buying bundle, not a ninth distinct tool. Apply both component limitations and do not force either through a mat. | manufacturer specification The bundle does not provide an independent comparison, universal routine, published pin/tooth lengths or evidence that both tools suit every poodle cross. Checked |
| Ancol Ergo Double Sided Brush 433000 Rounded-pin and bristle brush Product source Dimension / variant source | Rounded pin side followed by bristle side; pin length is not published. 24cm overall in Ancol's official 2024/25 catalogue; the live product page checked in 2026 publishes no dimension. | No coat-length class is published; Ancol describes loose-hair removal, light tangle teasing and smoothing. Pin side for light tangles and loose hair; bristle side for surface smoothing. | Healthy coat with only a light tangle; use the row as a finishing-format comparison because no coat-depth class is published. Stop / limit: Do not press into the skin or tug a mat. Pause or end the session if the dog becomes agitated or stressed. | manufacturer specification Pin length, coat-depth reach, comparative smoothing, comfort and safe mat removal are not established by the published sources. Checked |
| FURminator Dog M Long Hair Stainless-steel undercoat deShedding edge Product source Dimension / variant source | Maker: Medium Long Hair for loose dead hair and undercoat; tooth length is not published. Current Zooplus UK variant: 9–23kg. Current Zooplus UK variant: 6.1cm edge and 16 × 8 × 6cm overall. | Medium long-haired dog with a genuine shedding undercoat; the maker says this is not ordinary brushing or combing. Loose-undercoat removal with extra care around the stomach, legs, genitals and anus. | Completely dry, untangled coat; inspect for sores, bruises or skin conditions first and confirm the dog sheds. Stop / limit: Not for non-shedding dogs or particularly sensitive skin. Avoid excess pressure and stop if redness or irritation appears. | manufacturer specification The maker's shedding-reduction, comfort and topcoat claims are not independent comparative evidence, and Dog Product Reviews has not measured coat removal or skin effects. Methodology and update rules
- Identify the exact named model, size or bundle. A family name shared by several heads is not enough.
- Prefer the current manufacturer product page. Use a dated manufacturer catalogue or current UK retailer only when the live maker page does not publish the needed variant dimension, and label that source.
- Record “not published” rather than infer a pin or tooth length. Do not turn maker marketing language into an independent comfort, speed or safety conclusion.
- Tag a row only for the coat and job supported by the published role. Ancol's coat length remains unspecified; its filter match is limited to the published finishing sequence and says so.
- Apply the PDSA grooming boundary: choose tools for the individual coat, stop if the dog is worried or stressed and do not tackle mats at home.
Limitations
- No tool was weighed, measured or used by Dog Product Reviews for this version.
- Manufacturer specifications describe the named product; they do not independently prove comfort, coat-removal speed, durability or suitability for every dog within a coat group.
- The filter is deliberately conservative and bounded to nine rows. “No match” means this register has no documented match, not that no suitable tool exists.
- Breed name does not determine coat, undercoat, skin sensitivity or tolerance. Ask the groomer who can assess the individual dog when those are uncertain.
- A comb catch, mat, redness, pain or distress ends the product comparison. It is not a prompt to choose a more aggressive tool.
