Privacy Policy
Dog Product Reviews ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.
Who we are
Dog Product Reviews is a UK-based product review website at https://dogproductreviews.co.uk. We are not a registered company — this is an independently operated review site.
What data we collect
Analytics
After you consent, we use Ahrefs Web Analytics for aggregate traffic and interaction measurement. It processes page URL, referrer, browser and device information, language and approximate country/city; Ahrefs says raw IP addresses are discarded rather than stored. It also records outbound-link and form interactions. Our Ahrefs custom events distinguish affiliate-route exposures and clicks by originating page, named product, merchant, network and button placement, plus whether an exposure came from a qualifying view or a deliberate click. A qualifying view means that an earning link remains at least 50% within the browser viewport for 500 continuous milliseconds; a deliberate click also records the matching route exposure first. The same page/product/merchant/network/placement combination is recorded at most once per page view. Although Ahrefs is cookie-free by default, its script is not loaded on this site until you click "Accept".
We also use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) after consent to understand pages visited, time on site, device type and approximate location. Our GA4 affiliate events contain the originating page path, named product, merchant, network, button placement, earning destination URL and exposure basis described above. The custom DPR event sent to Ahrefs omits the destination URL, but Ahrefs can separately capture outbound-link destinations through its automatic outbound-click measurement after consent. These events do not include scroll position, form entries or checker measurements. Automatically observed route views exclude checker-generated product results; if you deliberately follow one of those earning links, its ordinary click and matching exposure record the named product you chose. GA4 uses basic consent mode on this site: the Google tag is not loaded and no data is sent to Google Analytics until you click "Accept". Advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation remain denied.
Interactive size-chart checker
The Ruffwear size-chart checker and dog-brush coat/job filter run in your browser. The dog-collar band checker also runs only in your browser. Measurements and filter selections are not sent to Dog Product Reviews or a manufacturer, added to the page URL or saved in browser storage. If analytics are accepted, the brush filter can record that the tool was used and the non-personal register row or DPR comparison destination a reader opens, but never the selected coat, job or condition. The collar checker can record that it was completed, whether published bands were shown and the non-personal source row or DPR comparison destination opened, but never the entered measurement, selected collar condition or specific safety outcome. Automatically observed affiliate-route views exclude checker-generated product results. A deliberate affiliate click records the route fields described above, but never a measurement or filter answer.
Dog Fit Passport also runs in your browser. Its field values are not sent to Dog Product Reviews or a manufacturer, added to the page URL or included in analytics. They remain in the open page unless you select Save locally, which writes one versioned record to that browser's localStorage. Clear removes that record and empties the form; clearing browser or site data can also remove it. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to view it. Print opens the browser print dialog; no account or server copy is created.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies:
- Essential cookies: Cookie consent preference (so we remember your choice).
- Analytics cookies: Google Analytics cookies, only set if you consent.
We do not use advertising cookies, advertising pixels or retargeting. Ahrefs Web Analytics does not use cookies or persistent identifiers in its default mode, and we still require consent before loading it.
Affiliate links
This site currently earns through Amazon UK affiliate links. When you follow one, Amazon may process the click and set cookies under its own policy. We receive aggregated reporting needed to attribute clicks, orders and commission; we do not receive the customer’s payment details. This policy will be updated before any additional affiliate network is activated.
Contact form
When you use the contact form, we collect the email address, message, selected reason and any DPR page URL you provide. The form sends that information through Resend to the managed DPR editorial inbox. It is used only to reply, investigate corrections, handle privacy requests and maintain necessary editorial correspondence. Contact messages are not added to a marketing list and are retained only as long as needed for those purposes.
Lawful basis, retention and international processing
Consent is our lawful basis for optional GA4 and Ahrefs analytics, and you can withdraw it at any time through cookie settings. We use legitimate interests to operate the essential consent-preference cookie, secure the site, answer ordinary correspondence and maintain accurate editorial records; a privacy request or legal obligation may require a different lawful basis in the circumstances.
Event-level analytics is kept according to the retention setting in the relevant provider account and only while it remains useful for proportionate traffic, interaction and affiliate-performance analysis. We review that need and the provider settings at least annually. Working exports and contact messages are deleted when they are no longer needed for their stated purpose, while aggregated statistics that no longer identify an individual may be retained for longer.
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Their current privacy notices and data-processing terms identify the applicable transfer safeguards for their services, which may include UK adequacy regulations or contractual safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. You can ask for information about, or a copy of, the relevant safeguard through our contact form by selecting Privacy request.
