Dog Product Reviews is reader-supported. Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy through one, Dog Product Reviews earns a commission at no extra cost to you. That helps keep the site running, but it does not change how products are selected, ranked or criticised.
In plain English: if you buy through a link identified as an affiliate link, this site earns a commission. That helps pay for hosting, research time and ongoing updates. It does not mean products can buy a better recommendation.
If a product is badly designed, overpriced, awkward to fit or clearly second-best for the use case, we say so. The whole point of the site is to help people avoid buying the wrong thing first, not to push whichever listing happens to pay.
What affiliate links do not change
- They do not guarantee inclusion in a guide.
- They do not improve a product’s ranking on a page.
- They do not remove the need to mention weaknesses and trade-offs.
If a guide includes affiliate links, the editorial aim stays the same: explain which products suit which dogs and where the compromises are before anyone clicks out.
Merchants and tracking
Amazon Associates is the site's only live affiliate programme at present. Selected guides also use direct manufacturer or retailer links that do not earn commission; those routes are marked as non-affiliate and do not receive sponsored-link treatment. This disclosure will be updated before another earning programme is activated.
After a reader accepts analytics, we record consented affiliate-route exposures and clicks by originating page, named product, merchant, affiliate network and button placement. GA4 receives the earning destination URL in DPR's custom event. DPR's custom Ahrefs event omits that field, but Ahrefs can separately capture outbound-link destinations through its automatic measurement after consent. A qualifying view requires at least 50% of the link to remain within the browser viewport for 500 continuous milliseconds, while a deliberate click records its matching route exposure first. This supports like-for-like CTA measurement without changing the editorial order of the products. The privacy policy explains the exact fields, exclusions and retention criteria.
